Having just picked up the iPhone 4s the other day, tonight I plugged it in to my laptop (Ubuntu 11.10) to get some photos off it. Up came the alert that it couldn't mount because of an Unhandled Lockdown Error -15.
The solution for me was the following:
1. Open Terminal
2. Type:
idevicepair unpair
3. Unplug your iPhone and plug it in again.
Hey presto, you're up and transferring until your heart is content!
